My feet won't stay still. (2025)

All the time, whether sitting or lying, my feet move.
This is particularly hard when trying to sleep and embarrassing when in public.
Any suggestions?

Welcome @tisher2, You have a lot of company with unwanted feet movement. I wonder if you might find some helpful suggestions in the following discussion:

You might find it helpful to look through this search results list of discussions, comments and newsfeed posts for others with restless legs - https://connect.mayoclinic.org/search/discussions/?search=Restless+legs.

Have you been diagnosed with restless leg syndrome?

I have what is called a dropped foot after back to back femur breaks on same leg. Have you seen a Neurologist for a nerve test?

Yes, I have for years. My latest neurologist thought it might be "restless leg syndrome" but I am pretty sure that's not it. My neuropathy came about a year after lower back surgery.
Thanks.

I have that all the time. sleeping is difficult for me. Also, I got Covid the beginning of January 2023. And just went downhill from that. I have neuropathy in my hands and feet. So bad and there’s nothing they can really do for it I was on gabapentin just made it worse.
I’m at the point now I am25%. I can use my walker and 75% to be in wheelchair. I have a neurologist who’s done everything he can possibly try. I call my feet now the dancing feet. It’s also hard to wear shoes. And when I’m sitting in a car. Or I’m at a restaurant eating food, the pain is unbearable, and I always have to have my feet up When I’m home. My advice to you is to try to stay positive about everything. Because that’s the only way I’ve been able. To try to handle everything.

This sounds terrible for you. I am able to walk, though I have fallen several times. I hope that some lab experts are working on pain relief at least, if not a cure and prevention. I think more and more people are going to be suffering from painful and debilitating neuropathy.
